i like this movie (since it’s one of my pleasures, medieval ones) but somehow i don’t, maybe because i hate one of the character that overwhelmed the story, Briony, i hate her even more than i hate Lady Catherine in Pride and Prejudice. oh, well..

Briony Tallis and her family live a life of wealth and privilege in their enormous mansion. Robbie Turner (James McAvoy), the educated son of the family’s housekeeper, loves Briony’s older sister Cecilia (Keira Knightley, i love her too, hoho..). apparently Cecilia, or known as Cee also loves him too. When it does, Briony, who has a crush on Robbie, is compelled to interfere, going so far as accusing Robbie of a crime he did not commit. Cecilia and Robbie declare their love for each other, but he is arrested because of Briony’s bearing false witness (hate her!), then those three lives is changed forever. After that Cee run away from her family and try to find Robbie.

Briony continues to seek forgiveness for her childhood mistake. Through a terrible and courageous act of imagination, she finds the path to her uncertain atonement, and to an understanding of what love is.

She finally meets Robbie and Cee, and ask for apology. Robbie has become a soldier and Cee is a nurse. By the time she meet them, Robbie had to go for his duty to france. And at the end, Robbie and Cee couldn’t make it to live a long and happy life together, thanks to you Briony!!! arrrrggghh!!! Robbie dies because of a disease that spread at the war and Cee dies by drowning.. pretty sad ending, ToT

The movie was based on the novel by Ian McEwan, Atonement (i should’ve been reading it before i watched it!) but hey, i’m not in Thornburg’s class anymore, God, those tiring thornburg’s days..

well anyway i have this rather funny thing on my mind while i watch this movie,

see how cute it is? ahahahaha, maybe the director want to substantiate the character, but in a cute way..
